Camp Joharie is a Christian sleep away camp for girls and boys, ages 7-16. It is located in the Catskill Mountains, 200 miles north of New York City, in the town of Canajoharie.
Camp Joharie offers a joyous and rich experience that will be treasured for a lifetime. Programs are geared to provide for the various needs of our children: to promote appreciation of worship and reverence toward God; to nurture the potential good in each child; to realize a relationship to a world larger than that of their own; and to appreciate the wonders of nature. Campers are accepted without regard to race, religion, creed, color or national origin.
Our objectives are to expose inner city children to the vital and vibrant expressions of nature. We have a well-rounded program full of activities and recreation. Our special events include the Lake Sing, carnivals, birthday celebrations, Olympics, computer training, religious training and Bible study. Also, free time to explore their personal interests in a supervised environment is provided.
Our religious training program is designed to provide our campers with the opportunity to not only develop a closer relationship with God, but also to improve their self esteem as well. Services are held twice daily and are conducted by the children with adult supervision. The children are taught how to conduct a service and are given the tools necessary to hone their oratory skills. With God in their hearts, our children will be the leaders of their communities as well as a shining example of what our children are capable of achieving.
The Camp Joharie experience will last a lifetime. Children leave our camp with a sense of purpose and meaning. With the love of Jesus in their hearts, our children’s opportunities are limitless. Our greatest satisfaction is knowing that the Christian experience gained at Camp Joharie will make a life changing difference in the lives of campers.
